How to achieve Perfection in Stardew Valley: 5-star all skills, floor 120, Community Center, all Legendary Fish, and Ginger Island. 1.6 guide.
Perfection — Grandpa's 4.5-star evaluation — is the ultimate goal in Stardew Valley. It's not the end of the game; it's the beginning of the endgame. Achieving Perfection unlocks Ginger Island, the Golden Pumpkin, and most importantly — the Perfection lamp on your farm.
Quick summary: What you need for full Perfection
- 5 stars in all 5 skill groups: Farming, Fishing, Foraging, Mining, Combat.
- Complete the Community Center or the JojaMart route.
- Reach Mine floor 120.
- Catch all 5 Legendary Fish.
- 14 hearts with at least 1 NPC (marriage or not).
Each requirement — in detail
1. 5 Farming Stars
Reach level 10 Farming. Simple but time-consuming. Plant Parsnip and Cauliflower in Spring, then switch to Blueberry in Summer and Cranberry in Fall to level up fast.
Tip: Ancient Fruit from the Museum gives massive XP when planted in bulk inside the Greenhouse.
2. 5 Fishing Stars
Level 10 Fishing. Fish every day, use a Trap Bobber to make it easier. Spring: fish Catfish on rainy days. Summer: Pufferfish at the ocean.
Tip: Legendary Fish give massive fishing XP. Catching Legend (Mountain Lake, Winter) is a key milestone.
3. 5 Foraging Stars
Level 10 Foraging. Wander the forests, pick Salmonberry in Spring, Blackberry in Fall, and Spring Onion around Cindersap Forest.
Tip: Plant Mahogany Trees from Mahogany Seeds found in the forest — each tree drops 2-3 seeds, enabling crazy propagation for hardwood.
4. 5 Mining Stars
Level 10 Mining. Hit the Mines daily, especially when the Fortune Teller says "good for Mining." Winter is ideal since crops don't grow.
Tip: Check the Skull Cavern guide for the fastest mining XP — each Skull Cavern run yields dozens of ores.
5. 5 Combat Stars
Level 10 Combat. Fight monsters in the Mines and Skull Cavern. Use a Galaxy Sword or Lava Katana for quick kills. Every monster gives combat XP.
Tip: Place Slime Eggs in a Slime Hutch — breed slimes and kill them repeatedly for easy combat XP.
6. Complete the Community Center
The easiest part if you follow the bundle-by-bundle guide. Each completed bundle gives 1 star. All 6 bundles = 6 stars total.

7. Reach Mine Floor 120
You only need to reach floor 120 — no boss fight required. To get there, you need at least a Gold Pickaxe and plenty of Staircases (craft 99 Stone each) to skip tough floors.
Tip: Bring 30-50 Staircases per run. Use Elevators to save progress (every 5 floors).
8. Catch all 5 Legendary Fish
The 5 Legendary Fish are:
- Legend — Mountain Lake, Winter, any weather.
- Mutant Carp — Sewers, any season.
- Angler — Cindersap Forest, Fall.
- Crimsonfish — Ocean (East Pier), Summer.
- Glacierfish — Cindersap Forest (north end), Winter.

9. 14 Hearts with at least 1 NPC
Marry 1 NPC for 10 hearts, then get House Upgrade level 3 and use a Pendant of Reflection (buy from Krobus for 250 Pearl) for 4 extra hearts.
Without marriage, 14 hearts with 1 NPC requires House Upgrade 3 — no Pendant needed.
Optimal order to achieve Perfection fastest
- Year 1: Focus on Farming + Fishing + Foraging. Complete the Community Center.
- Year 2: Mining + Combat. Reach floor 120. Catch remaining Legendary Fish.
- Year 3: Marry an NPC, build house, unlock Ginger Island. Finalize Perfection.
Rewards for achieving Perfection
- Perfection lamp — A rare, glowing lamp on your farm.
- Ginger Island — A whole new island with Volcano, Forge, and new resources.
- Golden Pumpkin — Rare item, sells for 3,000g.

Achieving Perfection isn't hard — it just takes patience. I usually hit it by Year 2 if I focus on Farming + Fishing in Year 1, then Mining + Combat in Year 2. Legendary Fish are the most important since they also give skill XP toward your 5-star goals.
